tough girl

As you know, Jd got stuck in China due to his stolen passport. What you may not know, is that Shelby had to continue the Sygif plan on her own! This meant going to Vietnam all alone. In Episode 3, we heard about what Jd went through alone in China. Here in Episode 4, Shelby tells us what traveling alone was like for her!

For both Jd and Shelby, being alone allowed them to grow as individuals. They were each left with no one they knew, which pushed them to love and rely on the local people they intended to help. Not all of us have the bittersweet privilege of being alone in a completely new country, but we all do have an opportunity to help!

compassion international

YouTube sensation, Tyler Ward, has recently had an experience with Compassion International by sponsoring Saul in Guatemala (just like we are sponsoring Orrathai in Thailand).
In the video below, see Tyler experience the same rewarding joy we invite you to feel by helping Sygif sponsor Orrathai.

making friends

Check out Bonnie's blog over at Life of Bon, and Candace's blog over at Lovely Little Rants today! They were kind enough to feature Sygif!

Also, both Jd and Shelby are officially home! Now we are all back to work here. Stay tuned for Episode 4 which shows some experiences from Shelby's perspective!

Episode 3, a Passport & a Zoo

Well, the last few weeks have definitely been interesting for the Sygif team. Jd got his passport stolen, which separated him from the rest of the team as they followed the plan and headed to Vietnam. Then, after the first part of the trip had ended, Kaiti and Ashley headed home leaving Shelby all alone to travel to Thailand. Jd in China with no passport, and Shelby alone in Thailand was definitely not part of the plan. Luckily, after tons of paperwork and generosity from strangers, Jd was finally able to join Shelby just in time to take Orrothai and her family to the zoo!

Here she is! Darling Orrothai with her brother Criim.

It's amazing to be able to see footage and pictures of the people that we work so hard to help - and that all of you have so generously helped as well.

Episode 3 is ready, which explains Sygif's roller coaster ride of a journey the past few weeks!

introducing...

the elephant shirts!

Pretty adorable if you ask me! You know what else is adorable?

This picture of Orrothai! She is one of the children we will be working with this summer. In fact, on June 12th, Jd and Shelby get to meet her! They will have a translator and be able to communicate with her! We are so excited to get to know this sweet girl, and watch how our funds help her over the next 10 years. We look forward to Sygif becoming her second family!
Thank you to everyone who has, and will donate! You make Emily's palate and heart surgery, Zao's pacemaker, and Orrothai's education and pathway to independence possible!

Have you watched Episode 1 of our mini documentary series yet? It introduces you to our team and gives you a sneak peak into the good we are doing this summer. Also, stay tuned for Episode 2 this weekend!

But most importantly, they're helping children in need! Last week they visited an orphanage to see the kids that Sygif is directly impacting.

Adorable kids, right? With your help, we would love to fund their surgeries and increase their likelihood of adoption! For a closer look, check out the first bit of footage Jd has sent back from China!
